At LJA, we use a combination of hands on, individually based, internally designed and external programs to ensure that we are offering our professionals well-rounded professional development.
Each level of staff is assigned a team leader, who is responsible for new hire assimilation and job training. The team leaders are responsible for ensuring that each new person receives consistent, relevant information and all of the attention needed to begin a productive career at LJA.
Each fall, we offer a fourteen-week comprehensive pension course that is taught by the senior members of the firm, who are among the top in their field. Instructors bring
"real world" cases to the classroom, applying the complicated rules and regulations in the industry in a way that makes learning interesting. The course is based upon the ASPA (American Society of Pension Actuaries) study guides that help prepare students for the certification exams. The firm provides paid time off for employees to take the exams and pays the cost of each exam an employee passes.
In addition, there are conferences that offer great insight into the cutting edge of industry technology, rules, regulations and practices. Each year we participate in a number of these by either providing expert resources as presenters and by sending employees from all levels as attendees.
We also offer a tuition reimbursement program whereby each employee in good standing is offered the opportunity to take job related classes outside of the office.
